Sustainability and Plainclothes
The commendable notion of sustainability seems to be the main topic of conversation in many businesses today. So we were led to consider what this means to us.
For 37 years we have chosen to buy products from manufacturers who carefully source their raw materials and who treat their employees with respect. Many of these artisans have become close friends. We know who makes our products and how they are made from beginning to end. Sustainability is not a new mandate for them.
With the inception of PlainClothes Chapter Two we have moved forward another step by offering a smaller and even more tightly edited collection of apparel for men and women. We encourage our customers to choose more carefully and to wear our clothing for a very long time. But in considering this approach we realized that we have been doing just that for the life of our business. Sustainablity is not a new concept to us but one which has informed our business from the very first days.
The pieces pictured below—and which are still in use—offer a "snapshot" of what we have always endeavored to offer to our customers...clothing of the best quality made for lifetime of wear. We think that's "sustainable".
